THE KEY ELEMENTS OF BEYOND MINDFULNESS
The approach of Beyond Mindfulness Amsterdam is based on the three pillars of many spiritual and philosophical movements:
Mindfulness means full awareness of the current experience. It is a conscious, more allowing and present way of being. This provides more inner peace, less worry and more relaxation.
Compassion is a mild, non-judgmental attitude to oneself. Instead of criticism or punishment you offer yourself understanding, care and support. Difficult or painful situations no longer have to be avoided.
Essence of meditation
In the bigger spiritual movements (Buddhism, yoga philosophy and Sufism) mindfulness practice is only a part of the whole. It is used as a preparation for the understanding of our mind, through self-inquiry.
The approach of Beyond Mindfulness is based on the insights and approach of the founders of mindfulness and self-compassion in the West (Jon Kabat-Zinn and Kristin Neff) and has influences of Tibetan Buddhism and Yoga philosophy. This unique combination consists of a wide range of meditation, in depth exercises, inspirational videos, teachings and group discussions.
Individual coaching is adapted to the experience and needs of the person in question. Beyond Mindfulness uses elements of solution-orientated approach, transformational presence, non-violent communication and Voice Dialogue.
WHO IS MARC?
Mindfulness, yoga and meditation have always been an important part of my life. Since 2012 I have been giving weekly trainings in mindfulness and self-compassion. Since 2014 my personal search for the “core of the mind” attained more depth. I learned the true power of letting go and the art of “doing by doing nothing.” All this brought a new kind of inner peace and joy to my life.
In those years my teachers have always encouraged me to discover and experience everything for myself. This way of teaching is therefore central to my own approach. I see myself primarily as a facilitator in your process or quest.
Following my master’s International Relations my curiosity for other cultures, countries and behaviour brought me in Eastern Africa, where I worked and lived for three years. In the summer of 2016, after five years absence, I came back to Tanzania and successful ran a Beyond Mindfulness training course.
With Beyond Mindfulness I aim to make the wisdom of the traditional movements (i.e. Buddhism) accessible to a larger group, in order to let people experience long-term inner peace, joy and happiness. In my personal quest, Due to my curious and searching nature, I have walked many paths. I studied in Wales, I lived in Tanzania and worked both in business and the mental health.
I have the ambition to make a genuine contribution so that people can act less from fear and more from love and a connection to life. With my experiences as a meditation practitioner and as a professional trainer-coach I hope to offer a attractive combination of activities.
