Essence of Meditation

Despite our increased wealth you can argue that we haven’t got much happier in the past 30 years. Actually the amount of people with burnout, depression and anxiety increases every year. How is this possible? Perhaps because we still don’t really understand the essence of ourselves and our minds. This trajectory of ‘Essence of Meditation’ wants to change that.

In the bigger spiritual movements (Buddhism, yoga philosophy and Sufism) mindfulness practice is only a part of the whole. It is used as a preparation for the understanding of our mind, through self-inquiry with questions like:

  • What is the essence of our spirit, our mind?
  • What is our true nature?
  • Where is our identity ultimately housed?

The purpose of Beyond Mindfulness is to change this lack of understanding and to explore together what the core of meditation is and what it’s not.

This mini-workbook stimulates you to take the first steps in the world of mindfulness and self-compassion and helps you to bring it in to practice.

Reducing stress

Learn to let go of stress, control and perfectionism and be more relaxed and in touch with yourself.


Become aware of your limits, recognize stress signals and allows stress to be released.


The approach is down-to-earth, practically applicable, fun without loosing any depth.

Tackling root causes

We go to the root of the matter and merge western psychology with eastern traditions.


This training consists of different meditations, insightful exercises, sharing in small groups and interactive methods. A background in meditation for this training is important. The Mindfulness and Self-Compassion training of Beyond Mindfulness is a perfect preparation for it or any other similar meditation course outside Beyond Mindfulness.

The sessions are based on knowledge of Tibetan Buddhism (Dzogchen), Advaita Vedanta (Hinduism) and methods suggested by teachers such as Jan Geurtz, Eckhart Tolle, Adhyshanti and Rupert Spira.

Should a need arise after this training to go more into depth, then Beyond Mindfulness can guide you individually or help you find suitable follow-up programs such as retreats, (year) courses and bookings elsewhere


With Beyond Mindfulness I aim to make the wisdom of the traditional movements (i.e. Buddhism) accessible to a larger group, in order to let people experience long-term inner peace, joy and happiness. In my personal quest, Due to my curious and searching nature, I have walked many paths. I studied in Wales, I lived and worked in Tanzania and worked both in business and the mental health.

I have the ambition to make a genuine contribution so that people can act less from fear and more from love and a connection to life. With my experiences as a meditation practitioner and as a professional trainer-coach I can offer a unique combination of activities.

Do note that I am far from being a guru. However i do think i have gained enough knowledge and personal experience to let you taste the potential of the course.
